Knowing who your members are, and non-members, will give you the means to identify certain statistics and the ability to learn from and act mailing list on changing trends and habits of your subscribers. Subscription Trends can also be identified by knowing something about those who unsubscribe from your newsletter and email lists. It should also be possible to map a trend of the numbers of unsubscribers in a given time period and where they might live geographically. Take note if a specific email has caused a relatively large number to unsubscribe. Where are subscribers coming from? It is a valuable exercise to compile statistics about where your subscribers are coming from. This information can help with future mailing list advertising campaigns. For example, are subscribers coming directly from your own website or are they referrals from third party websites or new members recommended by your existing membership? You can determine what is/isn't working, which can help you decide where to spend your advertising dollars. Shared emails Take a look at the forward rate of your emails - are they being shared, and is this bringing in new subscribers? Have you mailing list considered putting a forward to a friend link in your outgoing emails? The easier you make it for member to share the newsletter or invitation, the more likely they are to actually do it.
